Aside from adding your friends and family, there are a couple of ways which can get you from zero to hero in terms of your number of Twitter followers. Playing favorites There is another option in Twitter called automatic favoriting or auto favoriting, where if a tweet contains certain terms, it becomes automatically favorited. Once you start doing this, there's a high likelihood that the people whose tweets you favorited will start following you because let's admit it, a lot of people are looking for ego boosters and favoriting a tweet (similar to liking a Facebook post) can be one way of boosting egos, and like the second method mentioned earlier, they might just follow you out of gratitude. Chat your way into Twitter This is actually an effective method of meeting new people, new friends, and as a result, more followers. Join Twitter chats that are about your likes or dislikes. These chat sessions do not usually last long, just about an hour or so but it's effective because people online are constantly looking to connect with like-minded individuals, and once they know you are in the same wavelength as them, it is highly unlikely that by the end of the chat session, they won't follow you.
